Vaginal candidiasis, mucosal candidiasis, systemic candidiasis, cryptococcosis, prevention of fungal infections in AIDS patients, fungal infections of skin & nails.
• Vaginal candidiasis and Candidal balanoposthitis: 1 capsule of Flustat as a single oral dose.
• Oropharyngeal candidiasis: Loading dose: 200 mg; Maintenance dose: 100 mg per day for 14 days or more.
• Esophageal candidiasis: Loading dose: 200 mg; Maintenance dose: 100 mg per day for 30 days.
• Systemic candidiasis: Loading dose: 400 mg Maintenance dose: 200mg daily for 28 days or more.
• Cryptococcal meningitis and other Cryptococcal infections: Loading dose: 400 mg, Maintenance dose: 200-400 mg daily. Duration depends on responses. 100-200 mg per day to prevent relapses.
• Immunocompromised patients for prophylaxis: 50-100 mg daily.
Hypersensitivity to fluconazole or related azole compounds.
Patients receiving large doses of other sympathomimetic drugs, thyrotoxicosis, pregnancy, elderly patients more prone to angina, cardiac arrhythmias, prostatism, urinary retention.
Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, skin rash. Clinical adverse reactions have been reported in some HIV patients.
