LIPTA (Linagliptin 5 mg) is indicated in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycaemic control in adults as
Monotherapy
- In patients inadequately controlled by diet and exercise alone and for whom metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance, or contraindicated due to renal impairment
Combination therapy
- In combination with metformin when diet and exercise plus metformin alone do not provide adequate glycemic control
- In combination with a sulphonylurea and metformin when diet and exercise plus dual therapy with these medicinal products do not provide adequate glycemic control
- 5 mg once daily.
- If added to metformin, the dose of metformin should be maintained and LIPTA administered concomitantly. When used in combination with a sulphonylurea, a lower dose of the sulphonylurea may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycaemia.
- LIPTA can be taken with or without a meal at any time of the day. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible but a double dose should not be taken on the same day.
LIPTA is contraindicated in the case of following events,
- Pancreatitis
- With medications known to cause hypoglycemia (Sulfonylureas or insulin)
- Hypersensitivity reactions to the components of LIPTA which may lead to events like anaphylaxis and angioedema
- Pancreatitis
- Renal Impairment
- Use with Medications Known to Cause Hypoglycemia
- Hypersensitivity Reactions
- Macrovascular Outcomes
- Nasopharyngitis
- Pancreatitis
- Do not store above 25°C (77°F). Protect from moisture.
- Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.
