  • Hypertension
  • Hypertension with left ventricular hypertrophy
  • Nephropathy in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

For adult Hypertensive patients

Initial: 50 mg once daily

Maintenance: 25-100 mg once daily to twice daily

Maximum dose: 100 mg per day

For Hypertensive patients below 6 years of age

Recommended starting dose is 0.7 mg/kg once daily (up to 50 mg total)

Hypertensive patients with left ventricular Hypertrophy

Initial: 50 mg once daily

Nephropathy with Type 2 Diabetic patients

Initial: 50 mg once daily

Maintenance: 100 mg once daily to twice daily

Losartan may be administered with insulin and other commonly used hypoglycemic agents e.g. sulfonylureas, glitazones and glucosidase inhibitors.

  • Hypersensitivity
  • Bilateral renal stenosis
  • Pregnancy category: Category D
  • Renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is necessary, except if the patient is volume depleted.
  • Mild to moderate Hepatic impairment: 25 mg once daily
  • Volume depleted patients
  • Severe CHF

Anemia, Back Pain, Fatigue, Chest pain, Cough, Diarrhea, Hypoglycemia
