NPL Social Welfare Organization, initiated and supported by Nepal Pharmaceuticals Laboratory Pvt. Ltd., whose vision and mission is to make Healthy life and Prosperous Society adopting healthy mind and body of the people. NPL Social Welfare Organization is focusing more on health programs activities especially in preventive awareness creating and servicing since it is conducting various activities more or less social welfare and humanitarian issues in different parts of the country too.

The main objective of conducting this health camp was to create awareness of general health among the people, provide general health care services and counseling them on basic health care and hygiene.

The key objectives of this health camp were as follows:-

• Provide health awareness service to rural women involved in CLC (Community Learning Centre) of Saptari and Udaypur districts.
• Provide medical assistance to CLC members.
• Achieve an awareness outreach on health.
• Foster prevention to avoid the appearance of diseases particularly cases of uterus prolapsed among local women who cannot afford medical treatment for it.

The program was conducted into following phases in the classes of local village Schools:-
Phase I. Working team organized and managed the program activities area.
Phase II. Registration of the patients and Blood pressure, Blood Sugar test and weight measurement of the patient and Questionnaire forms were filled up by the volunteers.
Phase III. Preventive Awareness/Education program was done through visual aids, PowerPoint presentation and group discussion and sharing with question answer round.
Phase IV. Four Gynecologist Doctor’s consultation and Screening of Uterus Prolapsed in various stages.
Phase V. Medicine suggested and vaginal ring was applied to needed one and operation cases were referred.
Phase VI. Referred medicines were distributed freely.

Findings of the Survey or Study

Total of 176 patients of Saptari and Udaypur districts were consulted in this free health camp and awareness program with 4 (four) gynecologist doctors of Biratnagar Hospitals. Those Doctors diagnosed uterus prolapsed to only 18 % of total patients. Others were diagnosed Leucorrhea, Dysmenorrheal, Abdominal pain, Back pain etc. Some of them were also diagnosed with Hypertension crisis and very high blood sugar level. It seems patients were aware with the causes and prevention of Uterus prolapsed.

Among the total patients, 95% were married, 92% were Hindu women following Muslims (5%) and Buddhists (3%). Most of the women were living in joint families while nuclear families also increasing. Majority of women (82%) were giving birth to their children at home while only 15% in hospital and 2% in the health post. Most of the women had 2 to 4 children. Most (61%) of the women’s age at marriage were 14 to 19 years old. Main sources of income were agriculture (53%) following labor (16.6%), foreign employment (16%), job (9%) and business. Findings of the study may not be generalized due to limited participants (176) not covering the whole population sampling of Saptari and Udayapur Districts.
Only 18% of total patients had uterus prolapsed in which mostly had done marriage at the age of 15 to 19. The survey found out that most of the women having more children were suffering from uterus prolapsed. Out of total uterus prolapsed cases, 74% of the cases were from Supare of Udaypur District whereas 26% of the cases were from Jamuva.
